The men of St. Timothy's are involved in activities all year around in service to our Lord, and all men who attend our church are automatically members of our assocation.

Once again, a group of men of St. Timothy shared their talents and time during a mission at Camp Westminster, a Presbyterian camp on the northern shore of Higgins’s Lake. This is the 12th consecutive year members of our Men’s Association have spent the last week of August working on projects to ensure Christian youth who go to the camp have a life-changing and memorable experience.
Last year, a dozen men applied their skills to a very difficult assignment deep in the woods of the camp: We assisted in building a Mongolian-type, portable tent similar to what the Nomads used thousands of years ago. However, ours was a permanent structure used as a meeting facility for campers. The tent-like structure the Mongolians used is called a "Yert".
This year, we were asked to work on entirely different projects. One building, which dated back to the 1930’s, was in need of a great deal of floor work and a repair to the old fireplace hearth. We completely rebuilt the under-structure and then replaced the old floor boards so that nobody would ever know a repair had been made. Then, after pouring cement to make a new hearth, we sanded the entire floor (huge job) and applied urethane to provide a long-lasting, sturdy floor for the kids.
Another building, equally old, contained an ancient cinder block shower with a cement floor which consisted of a make-shift drain. Of course, the drain didn’t work properly and water would spill out onto the floor outside of the shower, which resulted in mildew and other undesirable situations. Our guys removed and installed new walls. They then created a new drain which was a major undertaking.
The men also accomplished many other repairs in camp. A smoke detector system, consisting of five different connected smoke alarms was installed in a large sleeping structure, broken windows, screens, benches and other items were also repaired.
But, it wasn't all hard work. The joy of fellowship and teamwork will remain with us forever. We brought our own cook and ate three great meals each day. The ladies of St. Tim sent pies, brownies, cookies, and the annual trip to the local Dairy Queen was once again a highlight of the week. We also enjoyed the annual picnic which consisted of pork chops, potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, salad and dessert.
We all made it home safely and are already thinking ahead to next year when we can once again work in Christ's name and enjoy a week of wonderful weather and great fellowship. All men are welcome to join us and we look forward to an even bigger group of talent and gophers (go for this and go for that) to complete whatever assignment we are given.
